This year on the eve before the Oscar telecast the Razzies would have been given out. Instead, it is the announcement of nominations from Saturday night for the very worst in films. The actual Razzie Awards will be presented on Sunday, April 1, April Fool's Day. Adam Sandler set a new record for the most nominations in a single year as actor, producer and screenwriter in his disastrous comedy "Jack and Jill."

What are the Razzie Awards?

The Razzie Awards is quite simply the presentation of the very worst in film and acting for 2011...period. Ever since 1981 its founder John Wilson created the anti-award show to counteract Oscar’s glittery fest of honoring the very best in cinematic achievement. Why not dis-honor the very worst Hollywood had to offer in one calendar year to the masses at multi-cineplex’s across the nation and globally?

Traditionally the Golden Raspberry Awards or Razzies, much like the Academy Awards or Oscars, are held on the eve of Hollywood’s biggest night of the year. For the first time the Razzie nominations were not announced on the eve of the Oscar nomination announcements back in late January. It was decided since April Fool’s Day fell on a Sunday it was the better choice for their upcoming awards ceremonies this year.

On the eve of the 84th Academy Awards telecast on Saturday, Feb. 25, Adam Sandler broke all records for his 11 Razzie nominations in his various films, most notably the gender-bender comedy disaster known as “Jack and Jill.” Sandler overwhelmingly broke the old record of most nominations held by Eddie Murphy in a single year. “Jack and Jill” received the most nominations, 12 in all, totaling more nominations then are Razzie categories based on its dual roles. “Transformer: Dark of the Moon” secured nine nominations while Razzie’s beloved “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I” garnered eight. The bloated ensemble cast of Oscar winners and A-Listers “New Year’s Eve” collected five including the Worst Picture category. A former Governor of Alaska and 2008 Vice-Presidential candidate was nominated for Worst Actress.

Past Winners of the Razzies or Golden Raspberry Awards

Halle Berry (Catwoman) and Sandra Bullock (All About Steve) are the only A-List actresses to have won and accept their raspberry trophies in person. Other notables, A-Listers and Academy Award winners include former President George W. Bush (Fahrenheit 9/11), Ben Affleck (Gigli), Sylvester Stallone (Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!), et al), Roberto Benigni (Pinocchio), Madonna (Swept Away, et al), John Travolta (Battlefield Earth), Kevin Costner (The Postman, et al) and Bill Cosby (Leonard: Part 6) just to name a few.

On the flipside there’s been an infamous famewhore celebrity who won one year, Paris Hilton, as if that were a complete surprise. It would take pages upon pages to list the amount of famous pop stars, Oscar winners and nominees in the distant past who had the embarrassing distinction of winning or being nominated for a Razzie.

The major winners at the 1st Golden Raspberry Awards were for Worst Actress: Brooke Shields (The Blue Lagoon), Worst Actor: Neil Diamond (The Jazz Singer) and Worst Picture “Can’t Stop the Music” featuring the disco music group, Village People, and starring The Kardashian’s step-daddy, Bruce Jenner.

And the Berry "Rasp"berry Nominees are...

Without further ado here are all the nominees for the 32nd Golden Raspberry Awards. For the first time in Razzie history all of the nominees for Worst Picture have been nominated for Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Ensemble. Like every year at the Razzies there are a number of Oscar winners nominated. What is even more pathetic one particular acclaimed actor appeared in one of the Worst Picture nods. Men in drag were a common element within this year's nominees. It’s a tough job for founder John Wilson and company, but somebody’s gotta do it.
