Boardwalk Empire is a very popular television series.

Boardwalk Empire

The era of Prohibition was a fascinating time in American history brilliantly captured for modern day audiences by director Martin Scorsese in the television series 'Boardwalk Empire' which is set in Atlantic City in 1920 at the dawn of Prohibition.

The series follows Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson, played by Steve Buscemi, as he runs the city’s illegal supply of alcohol. The storylines are gritty and compelling, and largely based on fact, featuring infamous gansters such as Al Capone as well as are other known historical figures. Boardwalk Empire is beautifully shot and superbly cast with Michael Pitt as Jimmy Darmody and Shea Wigham as Nucky Thompson’s younger brother the sheriff Elias ‘Eli’ Thompson particularly memorable.
