Just for a bit of fun, a list of some of my favourite comedy shows and sitcoms!!

The top 3....

Not a very easy decision picking my numero uno but I think due to it being current and a new series running right now it would have to be (appreciated that people outside the UK may not know of this, although it is written by the same team as 'VEEP')

1/ THE THICK OF IT
Deliciously written by the highly talented ARMANDO IANUCCI and his team, THE THICK OF IT focuses on the British government, it's opposition and spin doctoring.
A truly perfectly selected cast keep us highly amused as we watch them stumbling from problem to problem within the walls of the government.
Throw into the stew the brilliant MALCOM TUCKER (played by PETER CAPALDI) with his insulting, abusive and more direct than a dart hitting the bullseye demeanour and one can find oneself almost literally in stitches! If you haven't seen it yet, do so...you're missing out!!!

Next up an absolute classic, albeit only 2 series containing 6 episodes in each were made. Each and every episode being aboslute magic......

2/ FAWLTY TOWERS
Some of the most unforgettable characters inhabited FAWLTY TOWERS.
Basil Fawlty, the henpecked hotel proprietor, gangly and clumsy, would guarantee catastrophe every episode!
From accidentally fondling a pretty young Australian woman's breast to asking a hotel guest whether an imaginary crumb he found on the floor was 'a piece of your brain?!', you'd have to watch every episode at least three times so you didn't miss any further jokes due to laughing so loudly!
MANUEL, the bumbling Spanish waiter with an all too little grasp of the English tongue, although mustering sympathy from the watching audience, his tete a tetes with his manager Basil would always provide a plethora of giggles!
THE MAJOR: POLLY: SYBIL: THE OLD LADIES. All regulars and certainly not bit part players, Fawlty Towers will forever be one of the best for sure!

3/ THE OFFICE (U.S version)
After borrowing the format from the U.K version by Ricky Gervais, I find the American 'OFFICE' by far the superior. The brilliant STEVE CARREL portraying the very inane MICHAEL SCOTT is possibly one of the best castings ever in the history of comedy.
Backed up by a fantastic support cast, with the magnificent RAINN WILSON as DWIGHT SCHRUTE, multiple viewings of this ongoing televisual feast never adds up to any less enjoyment!!

I shall append to this list on the morrow folks.....

Best wishes

Brutus

I love sitcoms but can't afford to get a lot of stations. I know very little about football.
