Film review for the 2012 movie 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'
A quick review and synopsis of the 2012 Jim Carrey movie 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'
Mr. Popper's Penguins 2012 Director Mark Waters
Yesterday I went to see the new Jim Carrey movie called 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'.
I wasn't sure at first what to expect as friends had said it had been given bad reviews but as it was my sisters turn to choose the movie I went along anyway.
Guess what... I was pleasantly surprised. There are times in the movie where I thought 'oh well that was predictable' but other moments of 'ooh look at that'. I was laughing lots and even got sad once. When a movie can change your emotions so much and so quickly I class it as a good movie :).
Brief story plot - Mr Popper played by Jim Carrey is a successful New York City businessman who has put almost all of his life into his work life instead of family. One day just as he's been told he has to seal a deal with Miss Van Gundy (played by Angela Lansbury) to buy Tavern on the Green to become full partner, he is sent 6 penguins from his estranged now deceased father. Mr. Popper's secretary, Pippi (played by British actress Ophelia Lovibond) has a problem, alliterating all her sentences with any, and every word beginning with the letter P adding to the amusement of the film.
Mr Popper warms to the penguins and brings his family back together again whilst finding out that fatherhood is more important than all the work he's been doing that drove his family away.
The penguins were unrealistic but who cares? They were still cute. The movie was entertaining to adults and children alike with nice clean humor for a change. There might have been the odd penguin pooing on Popper etc but that's all I could see making it rated a PG. Is a great movie to take your family to and I wouldn't mind seeing it again myself.
To give your own review on the movie you should go see it for yourselves, and have fun!
