A good Choice for seafood in Kent is Ivar's Seafood Bar.
The seafood is fresh, the service good, and the owner actually appreciates your business.
Ivar's Seafood Bar A Class By Itself
I’m so tired of going into fish and chip places and feeling like I'm sitting in a school cafeteria.
A chance visit to Ivar’s Seafood Bar in Kent made me a believer again. A believer in good food, good service, and finding a fish and chip restaurant that made me feel good just being there.
The red and yellow flowers in pots in the outside seating looked appealing enough to want to eat outside ---in spite of the temperature hovering around 56 degrees Fahrenheit, but upon entering the restaurant with its yellow, blue and white nautical theme, I knew that the inside dining would be a good experience as well.
The colorful flags on the ceiling, the white walls, and red, yellow and pink flowers in glass vases on the tables made me forget I was in the middle of a city and that the nearest body of water was ten miles away.
We ordered our fish, and it wonderful. Fresh, and hot. I ordered the oysters and my husband asked for the prawns and chips. Halfway through our meal the owner came over and asked us if we were enjoying our meal, and could he get anything else for us?
I took that opportunity to tell him now I appreciated the ‘colorful’ feel-good look of the place, and he said that he decorated it himself. As he talked so enthusiastically, I thought how wonderful it was to have an owner take pride in his place.
It reminded me of the time dinosaurs walked the earth (when I was young) and restaurant owners actually cared about what their customers thought; They were there to please, said “thank you” instead of “No problem”, appreciated your patronage, and made eye contact.
And did I mention the soft drink dispenser? OMG, what choices! Flavored cokes and lemonade (raspberry is my favorite), root beers, fruit drinks, and any other kind of flavored soft drink your little heart desires.
If you’ve got a hankering' for fresh fish, clam or smoked salmon chowder, and you want a dining experience that you thought went the way of the Dodo bird, Ivar’s Seafood Bar in Kent is the place for you.

Sounds enticing. We're always on the lookout for good fish and chip shops but methinks this is a little too far for me to go!
