Three years after The Truman Show Carrey appeared in the hit film The Majestic where he played Peter Appleton. Appleton finds himself washed up on the shore after bumping his head and forgetting who he is. Appleton is welcomed into the small town of Lawson and mistaken for the solider Luke Trimble. Appleton’s quest for the truth helps him find more than just his name. Carrey is great in this film as the storyline was a bit more serious than his previous movies.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Joel Barish)
By far Carrey’s best dramatic film was the 2004 hit Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind where he was cast as the quiet and depressed Joel Barish. Carrey plays opposite the talented Kate Winslet who was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Clementine. Carrey and Winslet were both nominated for Golden Globes for their amazing performance and storytelling. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a must see for anyone looking for an interesting spin on the classic love story.
