Want a new laptop, but wondering which one to pick? Read on!
Laptop Battle!
The Acer Aspire 8930G and the HP Pavilion dv9000… Both very good laptops, but they both have their pros and cons!
Note: The HP Pavilion is older than the Acer Aspire, but I have these 2 laptops, so I thought “Why not compare the two.”.
Let’s start with the Aspire.
Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo processor T6600 (2.2 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache)
18.4” Full HD 1080p Acer CineCrystal LCD
Up to 1791MB NVIDIA GeForce 9700M
GT TurboCache
4GB DDR3, 320 GB HDD
DVD-Super Multi DL
802.11 a/b/g/Draft-N WLAN
Price: $1699.00
Pros:
Good screen, HD 1080p, awesome sound because of CineSurround speakers (best with headphones), CrystalEye webcam (high quality), CineDash touch control system (Skip chapters while watching DVD, manage the volume, etc…).
Cons:
CineDash can be clumsy, 320GB HDD isn’t that much, there is a higher-end configuration for $2599.00 which has 640 GB HDD.
Conclusion: If you want to go with this one, even without reading on, be sure to pick the higher-end config. It’s expensive, but 320GB (for me, atleast) isn’t enough.
To the Pavilion!
Specs: 17” screen, AMD Sempron 3500+/1.8GHz processor (1600.0 MHz, 512.0KB L2 cache), 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM, 140GB HDD, NVidia GeForce Go 6150, Integrated 802.11b/g Wireless LAN.
Price: $1349
Pros:
Good price, pretty good overal specs for the price.
Cons: 2GB RAM, 140 GB HDD…
Conclusion: HP Pavilion dv9000 is a very decent laptop for the price range.
Final Conclusion: If you want to play games on the laptop, buy the higher-end config Acer. If you want a laptop to make some Word documents or make PP presentations, choose the HP Pavilion.
