Playing Scrabble online is fun and makes you friends.
If I only had an "X" to play in this space!
There are an untold number of on-line Scrabble web sites which offer the opportunity to play the game for free. My personal favorite is the Internet Scrabble Club, www.isc.ro,, which claims to have at least 20,000 people on-line at any given time.
You can set yourself up to play games of 25 minutes, 20 minutes, 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3 minutes. In the longer games there is plenty of time to chat with your opponent, who may be living in the next town or may reside in a country halfway around the world. I live in California, but I have internet Scrabble friends in England, Israel, the Phillipines, New Zealand, Australia, Panama, India, Indonesia and a host of other places as well. I find that 25 or 20 minute games are a bit too long for my taste. A ten or twelve minute game affords plenty of time to chat while you play, but in a three or four minute game every second counts, because if your clock runs out before your opponent's, you lose by forfiet.
The Internet Scrabble Club gives you a rating based upon your success playing the game. The first game you ever play has you starting out with a rating of zero, and you progress upward from there depending upon your skill. The majority of players have ratings between about 500 and 600, and any rating greater than that is probably above average. There are a few select players who have ratings above 2000, who I suspect must be spending all their waking hours, when not playing the game, reading dictionaries.
If you're a Scrabble buff, give it a try. You will meet many interesting people from very diverse backgrounds with interesting stories to tell, and you will learn words you never knew existed.

I play on Facebook. There are a number of cheaters whom I tend to unmask. If you play a 24 hr game, most cheaters don't, cause they need the instant gratification.
My best friend is totally dyslexic. He had a 100% score. He'd played like 50 games.
This chap can't spell to save his life...
but he had a cheat which not only gave him the words, told him where to place them.

I have the game in my closet but, I have never played on-line. Interesting. When my son and I use to play, you could fill the tension in the air. All in fun though but, we are very competitive. He has yet to beat me at scrabble but, the boy beat me a few years back while we were playing chess and he has yet to let me forget he won once. I will not let him win at scrabble now!LOL
Nice read, thank you for sharing.:)
