Epson Stylus SX515W Printer review
I was bought this printer by my parents about seven months ago, and I love it. The printer I was using before I got my Epson was terrible. It never printed anything straight and some times 'chewed' up my work, but this is probably because it was quite old. So I didn't have a clue what kind of printer that I wanted, but I defiantly knew that I wanted it to have a scanner and photocopier. When my dad told me about everything that the Epson Stylus had, I knew that I wanted it.
As soon as I got it I wanted to set it up, but there was no one in my house at the time. So I decided to give it ago by myself. And I have to say that following the instructions wasn't that hard as they are very clear. I was able to do everything on the instructions booklet, except putting in the ink, which I got help with.
What it does:-
The Epson Stylus SX515W Printer has many brilliant features, including a scanner and copier. There is also a slot for a memory cards and in the instructions booklet is does give all the types of memory cards that fit into it. If you have a bigger camera memory card it will fit, but if it is say a phone memory card, it does say you will need an adaptor to make it fit. As well as memory cards, pen drives can also fit in the printer. I find this very useful as I often save photos to my pen drive and then just pop it into the printer and print them off.
Probably the best thing about this printer is that it has WIFI, which means that once you link it to your computer then you don't have to keep it attached to your computer. This is very handy, but I do often find that my dad some time uses it as well, as his computer also recognised the printer.
I find that the little screen that is on the printer is very handy to view photos on. All you need to do is pull the screen up to view it and when you are finished with it, push it back down. Below the screen is a panal which has all of the buttons you need to work your printer. They all have little icons on them so you know what they do, which is very useful.
I have to say that I absolutely love my Epson Printer and it defiantly meets all of my needs. I find that if you need to buy refills of ink for this computer that it can be a bit expensive as far as ink goes. On the Epson website it says that for a pack of all four colours it is £36.66 (at the time I wrote this review).
But when I needed to buy ink for my printer months ago, I really didn't want to pay this so I looked around. And I found that you can buy Epson Ink in places like Tesco for around £20 and also on eBay for the same price as Tesco. In the end I did buy my ink off eBay, but I really checked out the person that I was buying it from to see if they were reliable or not, and I didn't have any problems with my ink. You do have to be careful if you decide to buy on eBay, as it has to be the real ink, or it could damage your printer (well so they say on the Epson website.) If you want you can also choose to only replace one colour at a time.
For someone like me who is not fantastic with technology, I found that working the printer very easy to do. Carrying out basic functions like scanning a document quick and easy. Once you read the Operation guide booklet on how to scan and copy, it becomes very easy to remember.
The best thing about this printer is the basic operation guide book that comes with it. I can admit that I did have a small problem with my printer, but it was my fault. It was so very easy to look the problem up in the guide and it gave a solution. Also Epson has a website that you can go on to for additional support. Here you can get help with any problems you may be experiencing and also you can access and download any drives for your printer.
The Epson Stylus SX515W Printer is priced at £80.00 on the Epson website (But they are out of stock at the time I wrote this review)
They can also be sold in Argos.
