Saving Grace is an under-rated film which has subtle moments of brilliance

Saving Grace

Some films become blockbusters; you watch them and they inevitably disappoint. Take Bridesmaids for example – funny in parts but generally overrated. Or Vicki Cristina Barcelona… dull. So you may disagree with my let-down films, but I’m sure we have all watched films which barely made it to the cinema or got limited reviews but which are surprisingly engaging.

For me, Saving Grace is one such film. I watched it again for – yes – the fifth time. And I laughed just as much as the other four times. It is full of comical surprises and heart-warming scenes as Grace, at risk of losing everything due to her deceased husband’s financial misdemeanours, decides to grow cannabis. The ending, I admit, is a little silly, but it does what so many films fail to do – leaves you with a real smile on your face which lingers well after the credits roll.

I would highly recommend a night in with Grace – and my boyfriend found it as funny as I did too.
