TV5 Face to Face Review
The staff and fans of TV5’s tabloid talk show “Face to Face” is claiming that the show is helpful in arbitrating disputes among the common Filipinos. Two sides are given chances to talk, supported by other people closely involved in the trouble. Three judges who they call the Trio Tagapayo (three advisers) later give advice to the guests.

TV5 Face to Face
The show which they call talakserye is hosted by Amy Perez. She's assisted by Hans Mortel (co-host), B1 & B2 (bouncers), dancers, the Trio Tagapayo (legal, spiritual and psychological) and the audience which are collectively called the sawsaweros at sawsaweras. The show is also dubbed barangay hall on air.
I'm sure a lot of people find the show inappropriate in a lot of aspects. The show makes use of the common Filipino’s innocence of the right to privacy. They tend to expose their fights in public without much realization of the shame that comes with it. There are times wherein it involves minors too and not showing their faces I guess is not enough.
Face to Face is aired at around 10:30 am which means that it’s not suitable for that timeslot considering the kids at home. It should be understood that some do not care or know nothing about those MTRCB ratings.
Some people want to bring their troubles to Face to Face
So far these are what I heard from our neighbors:
"Doon tayo mag-away sa face to Face,”a woman said.
"Sus, Bad trip, advice part na, trio taga-payo na. (said a disgusted woman when a brownout occurred while she’s watching Face to Face in the middle of an argument).
It sound funny as this is the part that should be given emphasis if the main purpose of the show is to impart moral lessons to the guest and audience and settle conflicts as they are claiming. Another thing is that, the advice part is often not audible or sometimes muted with just murmuring in the background.
When it comes to the host, I find Amy intimidating, judgmental and bias. She's sometimes too emotional and takes side. The guests often hurt each other physically before B1 and B2 are able to keep it from happening. What is MTRCB doing? Advising them to tone down physical altercation (Wikipedia) is insufficient. Sometimes the language is too explicit and vulgar while the censor is too late. The beeps are also annoying. The way Amy says "pasok" to welcome each guest is like a signal to start a fight as in video games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. And they should not be called mahal na trio tagapayo because the people love the trouble more. The presence of the trio tagapayo is not even highlighted.
I'm not sure if the guests are paid to do their thing on the show. It's even worse if they are.
It could be a reason not to like the Philippines
It's time for us to wake up. It’s time to realize that the show is a bad example and is of bad influence to the Filipino people. We should not let anyone take advantage of our ignorance of our right to privacy. This will only cause bad impressions of us Filipinos if TV5 broadcasts internationally. We don’t want another reason for the world to hate the Philippines. Remember “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”
