I've been taking my own advice - viewing my boyfriend's gaming addiction as a positive thing - and loving it!
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The fifth in an incredibly successful fantasy series, Skyrim tells the story of an epic journey to defeat the Nordic dragon god, Alduin. So far, my boyfriend is about 15 or so hours in, and I am loving spectating like very few games before it!
If you haven't read my philosophy on gaming habits, here's a recap. Instead of being fearful of the things we don't understand, it's time to embrace them. As a result, I have wholeheartedly embraced my boyfriend's gaming addiction, and as a spectator (and sometimes participant), have genuinely been enjoying the journey!
I'll admit that I haven't watched/played the first four games in this series, so I'll just stick to what I know. Skyrim is a really beautiful game, and the ambient music is beyond ethereal. It follows the journey of our beloved main character as he (or she, should you choose) moves towards defeating a giant dragon. I can only being to imagine how many years of geekery have gone into detailed philosophy of this world. It's as though J.R.R Tolkien sat down one night, watched HBO's Game of Thrones and wrote one hell of a video game!
Highlights so far...
1. The scenery is simply stunning! I finally saw the northern lights!
2. The ambient sounds are relaxing (great for drifting off to when you've been watching patiently for a few hours)
3. The voice acting is really great for the most part (more on this later)
4. You can get married, even if you're gay!
5. The women are hot
Lowlights so far...
1. The stray dog we picked up along the way as a companion is really annoying. It keeps pushing our (oh look, 'our'! I must be getting into this!) character around and getting in the way. I just want to chop him up with the sword, but apparently he's going to be useful in a later quest...
2. The lady companion is really dumb. She keeps getting hopelessly trapped in dark corners.
3. The voice acting is patchy in some parts. Mostly the parts where Dutch accents meet Northern Irish.

Good write-up. Let us know when the dragon is defeated.
