Don't you love stories about pyramids, pharoh's curses, The Valley of the Kings, more pyramids and curses on those who break into the tomb? I know I do and Lincoln Child's new book kept me captive for a good while.

The Third Gate

What is "the third gate"? Are there two gates before the "third gate"? Lincoln Child leads us on a eerie journey. The goal of this archeological expedition: finding the tomb of the pharoh who united lower Egypt and upper Egypt in 3500 BC. The location: Sudd, in northern Sudan, which is a marshy, swampy land, muddy, and over-run with dead vegetation. Also over-run with mosquitos and other flying insects. Not my idea of a fun place to visit.

The quest is to find the crown of Narmer. No crowns have ever been found in any of the pyramids that archologists have discovered so far. Narmer's crown is said to have awesome powers. Strange events begin to occur - the power goes off, machines don't operate for a while and then start to operate, what is going on?

Lincoln Child takes us on a trip that you will remember for a long time. I won't tell you the ending but it is definitely worth reading.

Happy reading!
