Tooth Fairy (2010) Movie Review

This review focuses on a light-hearted, inventive and memorable family film from 2010 that seems like something Disney would have produced.
Introduction
This delightful film has an entertaining and unique concept: a truly self-obsessed bully of a hockey player crosses the line when he starts crushing the dreams of young children. He even alienates some potential fans. Similar to jury duty, he receives a summons to Fairyland for murdering the elements of fantasy, specifically citing belief in the tooth fairy. As a result, he is sentenced to “tooth fairy duty” for a couple of weeks. Hilarious hi-jinks ensue as the hockey player rediscovers the power of possibility, inspiration and hope.
A Disney Nature
I love how this movie is saturated with Disney-related qualities, down to the removal of curse words (with one close hit, but it was well covered). The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the title role of the hockey player, and he's just irresistible eye candy. His acting isn't bad either, as he's funnier in this movie than some others from his past. When the audience is introduced to the basics of Fairyland, both adults and children alike will appreciate its structure. The tools used in picking up an individual tooth are quite inventive. There are multiple friends and foes that spring up from the tooth fairy job incident. The relationship with his girlfriend suffers, making it extremely difficult to bond with her two children. He even has to endure some comical struggles with his hockey team. The violence surrounding the sport of ice hockey is mild, but the beginning of the film is a bit too rough for younger children, approximately ages 3 to 5. Other than that, there are plenty of memorable moments to spare that will last for a long time to come.
Conclusion
The film's potential to be memorable is enhanced by a stellar supporting cast: Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews and Billy Crystal (in a role similar to the one he played in “The Princess Bride”). It could even have the possibility for a straight-to-video sequel: perhaps Fairyland could have some type of emergency that would require the hockey player’s assistance once again. Combined with Dwayne’s one-liners and star power, this movie was very entertaining and had something for the entire family.

I have yet to watch this movie, I have to admit, it looked just plain stupid but, after your review, I will have to give it a try. Nice read.
