Weekend Box Office Results for December 19th: TRON: Legacy, Yogi Bear & Narnia
This week the domestic box office numbers surpassed the $10 billion mark for the year which is a huge milestone. The number one contributor to that total this weekend was TRON: Legacy which hauled in over $43 million in its opening weekend. Disney is thankful for all of the hardcore TRON fans who appeared to enjoy the sequel starring Garrett Hedlund and Jeff Bridges. The viewing demographic for TRON: Legacy was mostly made up of men in their 20’s.
Coming in second at the box office this weekend was Yogi Bear which starred the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake. The film made just over $16 million in its opening weekend and should add to that total over the holiday weeks ahead. The film will face some competition for the family box office dollars with Tangled.
Holding some momentum and the third box office position for the weekend was The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader pulling in another $12 million. Including this weekend’s results the movie’s two week total is $42.7 million. The fantasy movie stars Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley and is the third film in the Narnia franchise. The film performed well against the competing fantasy movies TRON: Legacy and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I.
The star studded How Do You Know starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson opened with a crash only generating $7.6 million in its opening weekend. Look for this film to struggle over the following weeks to get the box office cash it needs to recoup its $120 budget.

Okay, I know I am a grown woman but, I can not wait to see yogi and boo boo.LOL
It reminds me of saturdays with my sister and rbother, eating cereal in front of your black and white TV, laughing our butts off.
Yes, we also had rabbit ears and at times tin foil added to them, to make sure we saw all of yogi and boo boo.
Thanks for sharing and bringing up a nice memory.:)
