This is an attempt to review the CD of the audio tracks of a famous Hindi movie ‘Rang De Basanti’ here. Apart from having a touching patriotic theme, this movie has very beautiful songs with different moods and tempos, which are undoubtedly very carefully created by all time great music director and an Academy Award Winner A R Rehman.

The Audio Tracks!

The audio tracks under the review are taken from the popular film Rang De Basanti directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra which needs no introduction.

This film was a super hit with Madhavan, Aamir Khan, Atul Kulkarni, Waheeda Rehman, Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, and Soha Ali Khan as main actors in it.

Apart from having a strong story line this movie had very good songs in various moods,
because of which the audio CDs of this movies were hot cakes in the market then.

The Music Director A R Rehman.

The wonderful music for this movie was arranged by the Academy Award Winner A R Rehman who induced the life to the beautiful lyrics created by Prasoon Joshi and Blaaze (An Indian based rapper) to win Film Fare Award for Best Music Director of the year.

The singers Harshdeep Kaur, Daler Mehendi, Chitra, Naresh Iyer, Mohmad Aslam, Madhushree, Nadim, Mohit Chowhan, Lata Mangeshkar, Aamir Khan and A R Rehman rendered their voices to make this Album a grand auditory feast.

This album released by Sony BMG has following 9 numbers.

1. Ek Onkar…

The album begins with the song 'Ik Omkar' by Hardeep Kaur.

This short and sweet song makes a good start to the album with a touch of devotional feeling!

Harshdeep Kaur takes one to a soothing trip to the divine World with her sonorous and melodious voice in this song.

2. Rang De Basanti…

The song 'Rang De Basanti' by the great Bhangra singer Daler Mehendi, who rendered this charged song very effectively to make it a rocking one.

Chitra justifies her lines in this song. A good number in this Album and it can be said it is another melodious brain child of A R Rehman.

3. Paathshala…

The number 'Paathshala' sung by Naresh Iyer and Mohmad Aslam is a nice one with foot tapping music and a western feel making this song awesome.

This song with enthusiasm and zeal represents the youthful theme and A R Rehman really deserves a compliment for doing a fantastic job to create this song!

This number was declared as Song Of The Year 2006 by many TV channels then.

4. Tu Bin Bataayen…

The song 'Tu Bin Batayen' is another great song by A R Rehman in this movie, who very successfully managed to get what he wanted out from Madhushree in this song.

The strong lyrics by Prasoon Joshi make this song as an evergreen one!

5. Khalbali…

The number ‘Khalbali’ is based on the tune of Arabian music and it was wonderfully handled by A R Rehman, Mohmad Aslam and Nadim.

Initially the song may not look very appealing to hear. Get the hang of it by repeated hearings to get the actual impact!

This song was considered for Academy Award for best Original Song for that year.

6. Khoon Chala…

'Khoon Chala' is the next number by Mohit Chauhan who really enthralls one with this number.

Though this song is set at a slow pace, it is a wonderful piece of work where melody and pop are blended in proper ratio.

This is also one of the best numbers in this album.

7. Luka Chupi…

'Luka Chupi' is a sweet and heart touching song by the Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar and the Music Maestro A R Rehman.

This is a song where a mother calls her son back…the needed emotions in this song makes it very effective and enchanting!

It is said that Lata Mangeshkar had tears in her eyes while singing this song.

This is another song considered for Academy Award for best Original Song from this album.

8. Lalkar...

The next song 'Lalkaar' recited by Aamir Khan is with patriotic theme and the strong lyrics make this song come to alive!

“Hai liye Hathiyar dushman taak mein baitha udar , aur hum taiyyar hai apna seena liye idhar..” which means that - The enemy is waiting for an opportunity with the ammunition to attack there and with our open chests we are ready to face them here!

9. Rubaroo…

The album concludes with the popular song 'Rubaroo' by A R Rehman and Naresh, where they could make it sound very appealing to the youth with a pop style of singing and with good rhythm incorporated in it!

This is also a good number in this album.

Opinion

This album definitely helped A R Rehman to regain his old popularity in Bollywood music then. This album in stereo does have all the essential ingredients of a good music to appeal the youth and grown ups alike. This CD is definitely worth purchasing and listening! Don't miss it!
