Two murder, thriller type movie reviews. One review of a popular TV show that has become my favorite. All three are worth a watch.

A Murder of Crows

"A Murder of Crows" is an excellent film that is about a chance at redemption. Cuba Gooding Jr. plays a lawyer who is defending someone he knows is guilty. In the process, he develops a conscience and ends up throwing the case. Cuba is disbarred as a result and decides to go down to the Keys and write a novel. While he is there he meets an older man who is also writing a book and gives it to Cuba to see what he thinks about it. After reading it through, Cuba realizes that is a masterpiece. He goes to try and find the older gentleman, but he had passed away just before Cuba got to him. So....Cuba decides to publish the other man's book as his own. What Cuba doesn't realize is that the details of the book are the exact details of 5 unsolved murder cases. The movie dives deep into Cuba's character showing that He can do the right thing - throwing his case and losing his law license, and the wrong thing - passing another man's book as his own. What the movie boils down to is what he will choose in the end. He has seen both sides of his choices, will he make the right choice in the end? And will he be able to prove that he is not actually responsible for the 5 murders even though all the details are in "his" book? You'll have to watch it to see. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

The General's Daughter

"The General's Daughter" is a movie about a detective - John Travolta - and a murder case that happens on a military base. John finds out when he finds the murdered girl that she is the General's Daughter (hence the title) and that he will have to be careful with this case. The daughter has been raped and is left naked on the ground. Travolta teams up with Madeleine Stowe (Yes, the one from "The Last of the Mohicans") to solve this case. In the process they unravel a whole web of corruption and cover-ups that damages a lot of careers and reputations in its wake. This movie is a little more grisly and quite graphic. The moral of the story, without spoiling the ending, is about doing what's right even if it will damage your career and your reputation. Travolta stands for what is right and will not be intimidated no matter how hard the senior officers pressure him. The General made a mistake in his past and paid dearly for it in the end. Watch this movie to find out what it was. I give this film 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Psych (TV Show)

Psych is a TV that airs on the USA network channel and can be found on Hulu or streamed through Netflix. The show is about a unique man who was raised by a Father that was a policeman. Each episode starts with a little snippet of Shawn Spencer (James Roday), the main character's, father teaching him to hone his skills and be aware of what is around him. Because Shawn learned these skills at such an early age, he has an incredible propensity to solve crimes. In the pilot episode Shawn has to tell the Police that he is a psychic to get them to believe that he solved the details from a crime, and the theme sticks with him throughout the show. The only two people that know that Shawn is not actually psychic are Shawn's father and Shawn's best friend, Burton Guster (Dule Hill). It is quite comedic watching Shawn pretend to be psychic in every episode and have his best friend help him solve cases, knowing full well that he is not psychic. Burton and Shawn's back and forth dialog is priceless and their quick thinking quips are a masterpiece. They have a tendency to reference obscure actors, films, and trivia, though, so have a computer handy if you want to understand some of their subtler jokes. All in all, it is a masterpiece of a comedy and a creative look at crime solving. Watch "Psych" if you want to laugh really hard and you like crime shows. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
