A book review with an unusual story. Ghost Story by Peter Straub is a spooky story that I couldn't down for a minute. Find out more here.

The Review

I have just finished reading a novel titled “Ghost Story” by Peter Straub. It was the most entertaining story that I have read in a long time and it had a great supernatural feel to it.

What's the Story About?

Ghost Story by Peter Straub is set in a town called Millburn, New York. It is a best seller novel. The story revolves around four men who have done something terrible during their younger days and now it has come back to haunt all of them. The book starts off in a most unusual way. At first, I thought it was the beginning of the story, but it is actually the end of it. The story then starts to unravel by revealing things that cannot be understood fully, but they are eerie and frightening as you get further into the book.

How Good is Ghost Story?

Ghost Story is a book I could not put down. It is strikingly an interesting story to read and Peter Straub has done an excellent job of setting the atmosphere.

All of his characters seem to have been well thought out. In the beginning, he introduces David, who is the main character, but he is not brought into the story straight away. I think Peter Struab did an amazing job when writing this novel. Each chapter is different from one another and that's what makes this book so thrilling to read.

My Rating

If you like reading books with a scary feel to them, then you will enjoy Ghost Story. I recommend this book wholeheartedly, as it is an excellent page turner.

I rate Ghost Story by Peter Straub 9 out of 10.

You picked one of my all time favorite Peter Straub novels to read and review. I read Ghost Story right after it was published in January of 1979 and, like you, I couldn't put it down until I had read the last word on the last page. I saw the movie when the novel was made into a movie two years later, of course the movie wasn't as good as the book, movies never are as good as the books they are based on. After reading your review, I have to read Ghost Story again, for the umpteenth time.
