A Review: Why Readbud Has Gone Bad?

An article on why the author questions Readbud’s legitimacy as a "read to get paid site".

Stumbling Upon Readbud

When I gave birth to my second child I have decided to give up my regular day job to be able to attend to my boys’ needs. I have been preoccupied by my two boys whose age gap is only a year and a month. In between looking after my first born who was already in his “toddler stage” and nursing my second child whose only source of life is the milk I’m producing, I get to have time to do a lot of net surfing.

It was during then that I thought of possibly turning my little extra time into few pennies that could provide me a little extra to add up in my budget. Although I am glad to have more time with my babies, there are also times when I still do miss working and receiving my monthly pay. It was during this time that I thought of finding ways to earn a little extra by taking advantage of the stable and constant internet service that I do have. After all, I’m paying for it so why not maximize its use? As I search for possible ways, I came across the site “Readbud”.

What is Readbud?

Readbud promises you to be paid by just merely reading and rating articles available to you on their site depending on your chosen interests. The rate of payment depends on the length of the article you read. Readbud requires you to accumulate $50 before you can have your earnings cashed out through PayPal. The deal really sounds promising to me as you get not only to be paid by them but also you could probably learn something out of the articles you will be reading.

The Readbud Experience

I was lured, so I signed up. This was my first ever attempt to venture on small time online money making. I have doubts though regarding this. But I thought of trying it out just for the sake of knowing whether it is legit or not.
The first few days upon my registration, I was supplied with a number of articles to read per day. The earnings seem to be quick as it is directly correlated with the rate and the number of articles supplied to you. I just noticed that when I reached $35, the number of articles being supplied to me daily began to slow down, as in really S-L-O-W. I assumed that this was done intentionally so that people will be discouraged to try reaching the minimum payout which is $50. During that time, reaching it seems to be forever. In spite of that, I still managed to patiently reach the minimum payout after several months.

When I reached $50, I requested for a cashout. I received an email verifying my request and I was advised that I should wait for a certain period for them to check whether the earnings I have accumulated were gained by ways which are not in conflict with their rules and regulations before they process the payout.

Where did Readbud gone bad?

It has been months and I have waited for roughly more than 5x of the required waiting period and still nothing has been paid yet to my PayPal account by Readbud. I also have not sent by them any email updating me of the status of my request. I have received no explanation coming from them why my payment has not been processed.

So I came up with my own conclusion and explanation; Readbud is nothing but a scam and is just a waste of time for those wanting to earn a little extra.

I'm still on readbud.com and on $45.58 as per today. The thing was that in the beginning I got 20 and more articles to read each day, I could hardly keep up and the higher the sum of money, the less articles I got. At the moment I'm on 2 articles per day!
I diligently read every article and rate it properly as requested.

I also read a review of a lady who started twice at readbud.com because the first time she wasn't paid because she didn't read the articles properly and just rated them. The readbud computer picked that up and it was pointed out to her that this was the reason she didn't get paid. Second time round she was paid and posted a copy of her PayPal statement to prove it.

I enjoy reading the articles, some are good, some are not, so at the end of the day I'm not losing out I guess.

It will be a while until I know if I get paid and whatever the outcome, I will be back here to report.

Finally, readbud.com had, until recently, displayed all sorts of ads and popover and popunder ads as well, but now I see that they have joined forces with readandrate.com and they don't pay anything for reading. The ads that are displayed now are Google ads.

So we'll see what's happening, but trust me, if I don't get paid for honestly reading and rating, I will have a word to say about that. Watch this space!

Yep, I must do a calculation how many days I have to read 2 articles at a total of approx. $ 0.10 to make up for $ 5.00! ;(

Hi Chrysolite! I would be very happy for you if you will be paid. I'll be waiting for your feedback after you had reached $50. In my case, I have not received any notification whatsoever saying that they will not pay me because I violated any of their rules. It's sort of open ended for a very long time already.

I have seen 2 payment proofs online for readbud but apparently, they don't look not so legitimate to me as well 'coz in one of the proofs, readbud is spelled with a capital R and the other one with a small letter r. Shouldn't it be identical?

Just wait for the articles to come (it won't be easy though). And find out for yourself. I really hope you get paid. JA Ridley and I will be waiting (it will be a long wait, i'm quite sure :p).

Happy reading! I agree with you, there are some articles that are worth reading. It is sort of a consolation for me. :)

Yes, rapuncille, I thought about those PayPal copies, too. Really any readbud employee can fake that, but I'm accepting them as real now. Why don't you just write again and again? You must get paid if you reached the $50. If I don't get paid I won't take that lying down. They are or were in the Google Advertising Network as far as I could make out and so I think that gave them a certain credibility. I'm on $45.71 today and diligently reading every article!

Thank you Sammy for the two tips, will look into it. Have you actually been paid money for your work at either of the sites? I'm not really interested in vouchers, coupons or points.

The other thing is, I live in Spain and there are very few opportunities where we can actually make money and get paid via PayPal or cheque.

Yes, Redbud is a scam and a very good one at that! I don't know how you all reached $50, I just don't seem to be able to get enough articles to read to get to $50.

The question here is now: WHY don't they closed down if they owe money to so many people. Do we have to black list them or do something else to shut them down?

Personally, I find it such a shame as I like to read the articles and rate them. Sad.
