This review is about the second book in the Circle Trilogy and it is called the Dance of the Gods, where an old man tells the story of vampires and the six who were chosen to fight them and save humanity.

The Old Man Speaks Again

The old man was back to tell the young, the story that he had started yesterday. He began by reminding the children, who were the stars of his tale, he spoke of Hoyt and Glenna, of Moira and Larkin and of Cian and Blair, each with his or her own strengths and weaknesses come together to fight the evil that threatened all of their worlds. He spoke of the marriage of Hoyt and Glenna to remind the children of their love even though they had a fight with the vampires. This group was formed and now all they needed was to defeat Lilith. So here goes part two of the story.

Visiting Lilith's Home

Because the Circle of Six had won the fight the night before, they wanted to check out Lilith's home, which was in the caves, next to the cliffs where Hoyt and Cian had fought at the beginning of the story. When they got to the cliffs, they decided that the magic of Glenna, Hoyt and Moira would transport the living people who were food for the vampires, out of the caves. The three of them went up on the cliffs and Larkin and Blair stayed near the opening of the cave in case the human servants came out during the daytime to fight. Then the cave opened and out came the human servants, who Blair and Larking fought. Then came the rain and the darkness sent by Lilith's magician, and the vampires were ready to fight. Larkin became a dragon and flew Blair to Hoyt, Glenna and Moira. The five of them returned to the van and drove fast. They had fought and again they were triumphant because they got five living to safety. Once they returned home Larkin and Blair had their first kiss.

Dreaming of Vamps

After the group had fought against the vampire Lilith's human servants, Moira and Blair had dreams about the vampires and almost allowed them into the house. The group soon learned that Glenna also had this problem, while she was still in New York. They were scared but Glenna had a spell that would protect everyone against the problem of having Lilith and other intruders in their sleep. They would also look for a way to keep them from the house without keeping Cian out of the house as well. It would be some work but they would work on finding something, even though Cian told them that nothing could be done to keep them out once they had an invitation.

A Visit from Morrigan

Blair was on her way to her room, once there she walked in and into the rise above the Valley of Silence to a meeting with the goddess Morrigan. The goddess told her that the group would travel through the Dance to the place called Geall, which had been a fairy tale to everyone in the group, but Larkin and Moira. Blair brought the group together to tell them about the trip and discuss what they would need to take with them on their trip to Geall.

The group decided they would send Larkin to check out what Lilith and her people were doing and how they would get out of this world since they could not use the Dance, they also wanted to see how many weapons they had and who they were taking with them. They figured that using Larkin was a great idea, because Larkin was a shapeshifter, so he could change shapes very quickly and he could turn into any animal that walked the earth. He went into Lilith's caves and saw her arsenal and listened to Lilith and the magician talk about going to Geall. When Larking decided to help everyone living, who was kept like cattle in cages, he ran into the child that Lilith kept as her son, and was bitten by the child. When he returned home Blair cleaned his wound with holy water to clean out the evil which had infected his body, and Glenna put him to sleep using a magic spell to end the pain of having this done. Blair went to her room after he had gone to sleep and cried, she had fallen in love with Larkin.

Killing Jeremy

After discovering that she loved Larkin and making love to him, Blair was confronted by Lora, the french vampire and Lilith's lover, who came as an optical illusion, to the workout area in Cian's house. She had brought Jeremy, Blair's first love, the one who had left her after finding out that Blair was a vampire hunter. Blair begged for his life but Lora killed him anyway, then she disappeared. It almost broke Blair, but she went and talked to Larkin about her relationship with Jeremy, after Cian found out that Jeremy was truly dead and that Lora had not changed him into a vampire. The next morning she felt better and the work of getting ready to leave this place helped, but mostly what really made her feel better was Larkin.

The trip to Geall

They were all ready to make the trip, but were unsure of how to get Cian into the Dance, it was made for the clean and nothing like Cian could make the trip as he was a vampire. However as they said the magic words, Moira pulled him into the Dance and he made the trip. Once they got to the other side, Cian and Moira rode on Cian's horse, that they had brought for the ride, and the rest of them climbed aboard the dragon that Larkin changed into to the castle of the future queen Moira. They were greeted by Prince Riddock the brother of Moira's mother, and they told him their story. He told them he would do what they asked and then they went to their rooms.

Moira's Mission

Once the six reached the castle, the people were glad that there future queen had returned, however her news was not good. A war in the land where there has always been peace, and the people did not believe in vampires, even though her mother had been killed by one. Moira was afraid her people would not believe that these creatures were blood thirsty animals especially since Cian was clearly not. But they only had till Samhain to train her army and she was working on it. Moira decided to go find the vampires who had killed her mother, two of them. She sent Blair, Larkin, and Cian out to look for them.

When they returned, Moira decided to show the world, her world, not only did they have this menace, that they must fight, but they could depend on her to kill them. So with all of her people which Moira had brought together, she showed them her fighting skill and what the vampire could do. One of the vampires the smallest of the two was who she was fighting, and he told her he had also killed her father and Moira killed him quickly after that confession. She went after the second vampire that was still chained up but Cian shot an arrow through him and told Moira that it was enough. She followed him as he left the field, they argued. When the argument got to heated he gave her a kiss that left her dazed and confused.

Morrigan's Return Visit

Blair and Larkin decided that it was time to check out the battlefield to see what they needed to do there to make it better for their men. The place was evil and even Blair was afraid when they finally made it there. Then out of no where Morrigan appears and told them that she was proud of them and that she believed in each one of them. They would win the fight.

When Blair and Larkin done talking to Morrigan, they decided to fly home after checking a few more traps. Along the way they saw a family, stranded with the husband hurt. Larking and Blair decided to help this poor family out, so Larkin became a dragon and flew them to the castle. Blair was alone when the sky went dark and Lora and the vampires showed up. Blair threw holy water on Lora and killed most of the vampires, however she was tired and about to pass out when she saw Larkin come to save her. Blair was flown back to the castle, where Glenna and Moira worked to heal her and Larkin stayed very close to her. Lora, the french vampire did not fair as well, her face and throat was in great pain.

The Closing

This book ended with Blair and Larkin rubbing the Queen of Vampires face in the fact that she had burned Lora's face and throat and she could still ride with Larkin. It was the second part of the story and the old man allowed the children to go back to their mother, till tomorrow. The story was very interesting and it kept me reading it. In fact I had to read the book, then reread the book to write this article. Read this book soon.

Its essentially a love story of the Demon Killer and a Shapeshifter who knows his way around like a man.
Would she risk everything she has in her to be with him or would she hide her feelings to follow her mission is the question.
Personally if the love is meant to be, I would say go for it and when it is time to get back into mission step in to play but with an added armour as the Shapeshifter could shift away from being the friend and leaving just one who can be trusted, the one with the two edged sword but cannot be seen unless the heart is pure.

P.S. its not part of the story but my way of liking it as I love such things and envision what should be next....
