The Solar House: Passive Heating and Cooling - Book Review

More and more individuals are turning their own homes more energy-efficient and eco-friendly. There are many books out on the market that provide information about designing a home with ideas on passive heating and cooling. One highly recommended book to read is The Solar House: Passive Heating and Cooling written by Daniel Chiras.

It is a terrific resource on designs of energy efficient home plus it covers interrelated topics in superb detail. This book provides region-specific building methods to keep your house comfortably cool or warm, green construction techniques, insulation materials, auxiliary heating systems, etc.

One very commendable the chapter I personally like is the one on healthy air quality in passively conditional houses. This discusses health and environmental issues related to different home designs, such as insulating material, air conditioning, ventilation systems. In the interest of keeping our planet and our family healthy, these are necessary things to take into consideration before finally selecting an appropriate passive heating and cooling home design.

This book provides a lot of useful information on modifying homes in order to provide a healthy and energy-efficient living habitation for you and the family.
