Alice in Wonderland is a popular English classic. Here is a brief analysis of Alice's character.

Alice in Woderland

"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", popularly known as "Alice in Wonderland" is an English novel written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (pseudonym Lewis Carroll). This literary classic was written in the year 1865 is popular with readers of all ages. Alice is the protagonist of this fantastic novel. The events in the novel happen on May 4th. The author wrote this novel to entertain his child friends. Alice's character is based on the author's real-life friend, Alice Liddell.

Alice is a seven year old English girl. She wears a blue knee-length dress with a white pinafore overtop. Her adventures begin when she follows the "White Rabbit" into the wonderland. She is polite, curious, strong-willed and honest. Alice is full of imagination. She is logical and likes to show off her knowledge.

Alice derives her confidence from her education and social status. The novel portrays her as a young girl struggling with adolescence. Alice is a sensible girl from a wealthy family who believes that the world is orderly and stable, but her beliefs are challenged by the happenings in the Wonderland. The Wonderland is ruled by imagination and fantasy. Alice is kind-hearted and shows interest in others.

Alice is easily affected by rudeness of others. Alice is gentle and courteous, but some of her comments upset creatures in the Wonderland. Alice is obsessed with the importance of good manners. She is of the opinion that the creatures of the Wonderland are less privileged. Alice suffers identity crisis in Wonderland.

As the novel progresses, the reader can observe the transformation of Alice from an idle child to a conscientious adult.

Another perspective is that Alice is the antagonist for all the other characters.
