The diffusion of innovation theory was first proposed by Everett Rogers through it's publication in 1960 by defining it as a process where innovation communicated through certain channels at certain periods to members of the social system.

Background Theory
Everett Rogers is the son of a farmer who grew up in a farm do inland Iowa, at first he did not intend to continue his studies, but because a teacher took him to a university after that Everett Rogers ambitions to sit on the bench lectures. He studied at Iowa State University in agriculture. As an advisor he always started learning through stories, by akrena it in the books that he published it always starts with the stories. This according to him is very influential in the learning process. Furthermore, he continued his studies S2 in the field of statistics and sociology. In his lifetime he has published 30 books and been translated into 15 languages.

Essence Theory
The diffusion of innovation theory was first proposed by Everett Rogers through it's publication in 1960 by defining it as a process where innovation communicated through certain channels at certain periods to members of the social system. While innovation is defined as "an idea, practice or object that is new to the individual, group or organization". The process of gradual individuals adopt innovations include the phases of knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation and confirmation. The introduction of new drugs also follow these phases.

This theory focuses on how to communicate. Diffusion refers to the spread of information, innovation refers to a new process. Diffusion of Innovation implies the spread of new information to the public. To the spreading of this new information, the public can be divided into several types, namely:
1. Innovators, is a people who were classified as meerka are pleased to something new or test.
2. Early adopters, is a people who are influential or more advanced than in surrounding communities.
3. Early Majority, is a people who step further than most others.
4. Late Majority, is a those who dare to accept innovation after another person.
5. Laggards, is a those most recently received the innovation.
