This song became so familiar in the early 70's performed by singer-song writer Cat Stevens. whenever there is an event associated with fathers and sons, this song is usually the best choice.

When I was in my high school days, it was not 70's of course, it was already in the 90's and my English teacher assigned us to look for this song and I think this song can be associated with the incoming celebration of Father's Day.

How Did He Came up with the Song?

Based on my research I found out that Stevens was able to came up with this song through the influence of his relationship with his father. This song is a ll about a father who wanted his son to work in a farm but his son chose to join a revolution just like Stevens relationship with his father, he was not able to follow his father's footstep but they never had any argument about that.

Cat Steven is now known as Yusuf Islam.

My Favorite part of the Song

How can I try to explain?
'Cause when I do, he turns away again
It's always been the same
Same old story
From the moment I could talk
I was ordered to listen
Now there's a way, and I know
That I have to go away
I know I have to go

Realizing How lucky we are For Having the Chance to be with them

It's hard to accept sometimes that we are being disciplined by our father where in fact, they just wanted us to take the right path. We often mistakenly taken them for granted or sometimes we are thinking that they're too much but NO! They always wanted the best for us so let us not waste any moment having them by our side.

This coming Sunday, we will be celebrating Father's Day to honor their greatness and thank then for loving us. We will not be here without them.

Happy Father's Day!

Good day everyone! When I was a child, I really wanted to become a writer and I love reading books. I believe in freedom of expression through reading and writing.

Normally fathers are the forgotten and maybe the unsung heroes in our lives. They do care like our mothers but may not show it! Good tribute, Azila - siva

Good tribute. While I agree that fathers like the one in the song want what they think is best, sometimes the child is right to say "I have to go," as Stevens did.
For a Father's Day post, though, yes, an excellent tribute. Thanks.
