This tutorial shows how to fix iMessage activation error on iOS 10/9/8/7.

iMessages “Waiting for Activation”?

iMessage is available to all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users to text messages, images and contacts, which only requires cellar data connection or WiFi connection. While you want to use iMessage, you must have to first activate it on your iOS device.

Sometimes, you may receive an error message saying “Waiting for activation” and it just tends to stay and no go away. It is really irritating, right? If you do encounter such a situation and wonder how to fix it and activate iMessages successfully on iPhone and iPad, you can try the steps below.

Check These Things in Advance:

1.In the Phone app, your own number must be on the top of the contact list. If not, go to Settings > Phone > My number, and enter your phone number there.

2.Make sure your internet is active, either cellar data or WiFi data.

Solution 1: Check your device Settings

Firstly connect your iDevice to mobile data or WiFi, and set your time zone correctly by navigating to Settings > General > Date and time. Then you must activate iPhone iMessages service to your phone number, and you can do this by contacting your carrier to enable this service for you.

Solution 2: Disable iMessage and FaceTime

To do this, you should separately perform these steps:
For iMessages: go to Settings > Messages > deactivate iMessage.
For FaceTime: go to Settings > FaceTime > disable FaceTime.

After that, restart your iDevice and re-enable your iMessage and FaceTime.

Solution 3: Airplane mode

Activating airplane mode will disable some of the features on iPhone, so that we can configure the iMessage activation and this is the most effective way to fix iMessage activation error on iOS 7/8/9/10.

1. Now go to Settings > Messages > turn off iMessages and FaceTime, and put your iPhone in airplane mode.
2. Then turn on WiFi, give blue arrow to the network you are connecting with and deleted the DNS and put 8.8.8.8.
3. Next go back to Settings and turn on iMessage, while turn off the airplane mode. And then select “Cancel” when you get a pop-up saying “Your carrier may charge for SMS”.

If all the methods above don’t work, please perform a factory reset on your iPhone, and set up iMessage and FaceTime as new ones.

Warm Tip: If you unfortunately lose your iPhone or delete iMessages by mistake, fret not, try this method to extract iMessages and text messages from iPhone backup.
