We have all seen this +1 button on our wikinut pages and they pop up in so many other different places on the Internet. Many of us had hardly come to grips with Google Buzz and Google Sparks and now this. All of which, we are to believe, was put there to make our lives as article publishers, a whole lot easier. I set out to find a simplified description of just how all of this works, and how indeed, if at all, they differ from each other.

What They All Have In Common

Off course the full and detailed descriptions of these Google tools' specific uses
run into volumes, justifiably laden with a multitude of time and cost saving benefits.
Although written in plain english and not techy at all, I have found that working
through much of it, was akin to what counting sheep was to an insomniac.

All three of these new tools are marketing or advertising gadgets

I am in no way attempting to imply or suggest, that this is an abridged version of the original text, but what it is, is a glimpse of these three, hitherto enigmatic tools, important tools no less, designed to make our lives a whole lot better.

Google+1 and your website:

Google+1,allows people to connect with you easily. It enables people who care about your content to connect with you. People loking for relevant content via a Google search, a website or an advertisement will find a G +1 button installed to direct them to people they are familiar with and also trust. For example, you could see a G+1 on a Google search result or even on a favourite article you are reading.

Placing a G +1 button next to an article on your own website,allows users to recommend your content. Their contacts will see the user's recommendation and if relevant, will also visit your webpage.
In addition, a user's G +1's appear on the G +1 tab of their Google Profile. G +1’s are always public but users can choose to make them visible or invisible on their profile.

When a Google user is signed into searching, your Google search result "snippet" may contain the names of the user's connections who've G +1'd your page. If none of your connections has G +1'd your page, your "snippet" may display the aggregate number of G +1's your page has received.

Content suggested by friends is usually far more relevant than content suggested by a stranger. A movie review for example, from a friend who shares your tastes can be a whole lot better than a review from a movie expert. This being the case, G +1's from your personal contacts can be a useful tool to Google when determining the relevance of your pages to user queries. This is just one of many tools Google uses to determine a page’s relevancy and also it's ranking in a Google search. Google are constantly improving their algorithm to improve the overall search quality. Google said: "For Google +1's, as with any new ranking signal, we are starting carefully and learning how those signals affect search quality.You know your page and your users best, so we recommend putting the button wherever you think it will be the most effective. Above the fold, near the title of the page, and close to sharing links is often a good location. It can also be effective to place the +1 button at both the end and the beginning of an article or story."

What Is The Difference Between Google+1 and Google Buzz?

Google Buzz buttons are used for starting conversations about interesting web content ("Hey guys, what do you think about this news story?") G. +1 buttons recommend web content to people in the context of search results ("Andy G +1’d this page"), and G +1's from social connections can help improve the relevance of the results you see in Google Search. You can use the G+1 button, or the Buzz button, or both—pick what’s right for your content.

What Is Google Sparks?

Google+ Sparks lets users tell Google about stuff they’re interested in, so that Google can find related content on the web and deliver it straight to Sparks in Google+. For example, Andy loves fishing, so he adds it as an interest in Sparks. Google’s machines search the index for pages about fishing and updates the stream with the results we believe are the most relevant to Andy.

As a webmaster, you don’t need to do anything special to make your content available in Sparks. Just like with search results, however, it is important to make sure that Google can crawl and index your site correctly. Google's Webmaster Guidelines outline some best practice principles that are aimed at helping you to avoid common pitfalls and to improve a website's ranking.

Does Google +1 Appear On Mobile Browsers?

When asked, Google said; "Yes! We've added support for iOS 4.0+ and Android 2.1+, so once you add theG +1 button code to your site, the button will be automatically visible on pages viewed using these browsers.

IMPORTANT:

Since Google +1 is a public application you must remember to only add it to pages that you want to be seen by the public, also referred to as "Crawlable by Google" pages.

Handy Code For Google +1 On Your Websites

In the brief outline above, you will see Google's suggestions about where to place these buttons. You can experiment with them and remember, that you can make them visible or invisible at any time.
You can use this handy code by copying it and pasting it on your webpage at any particular points of interest:

<!-- Place this tag where you want the +1 button to render -->
<g:plusone annotation="inline"></g:plusone>

<!-- Place this render call where appropriate -->
<script type="text/javascript">
(function() {
var po = document.createElement('script'); po.type = 'text/javascript'; po.async = true;
po.src = 'https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script'); s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s);
})();
</script>

And that, is as far as I can see into this fascinating world of Google search. All I can suggest to those that will express their intimidation with the contents of this article, is to not feel this way. You can go and visit Googles Information articles and slowly by cross reference, example: Read a bit, then go over to your website and try and apply the new information.

And for the adventurous, click on the link below for an amazing GOOGLE +1 FREEBIE:

LUCKY G+1

Googles help articles also have comments boxes and Q&A sections that are surprisingly user friendly, even for Jurassic's (old guys) like me. The whole idea behind all of this, is to have fun. While you are at it, why not join wikinut as a writer, and write a more simplified and user friendly version of the uses of the Google+1 button

The Google + 1 enigma (addendum)

Once fully operational, it promises to be a super tool to greatly enhance online marketing efforts. This aspect of writing, is often as important as the article contents and is is only over shadowed by the article header. A high impact header gets a reader to click on it. The haloed summary or intro, gets it read or discarded.

Please accept the big eared guys apologies for any inconvenience or better still, write about it at: wikinut.com

Hello Rama Devi, I really do hope that you will make the effort of finding out more about Google+1 and not feel intimidated by the content of my article my friend. The wonderfully talented writers here on wikinut have all been empowered with a huge dose of wisdom and a keen sense of adventure, the only two attributes needed to slay the literary dragon.

Hello Andre.... Thank you for this very informative article. I've been very frustrated with Google + on Wikinut, because it seems to have stopped working for most everyone I've talked to on here. When I Google + something, at first it seems to work, but if I wait just a few seconds, the button turns red with an exclamations point and the 1 disappears. I've tried to contact Google about it, but no response. Oh well, I tried. I just tried to Google + this and it did the same thing. Thank you, my friend, for enlightening us about what it all means. :o)

Hi Carol. I can well understand your frustration with Google+1, could you imagine how I feel, having written about it? You will notice that I haven't responded to our other friends above as I want something positive to say about it at this time. Your approach to the article by testing the button is commendable, thank you :-)) Ps. I believe it's still "Experimental" (Unofficial source)

I was curious and I clicked on the g+1 link at the top of the Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance, and sent a message, but where and how do I get to read the published text of my message?

Help!
