Mozilla Firefox is the second most popular web browser, behind Windows Internet Explorer. What is in Firefox that makes it so good?

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox has taken the Internet community by storm, and has become the second most popular browser on the planet. What is Firefox's secret formula that made it so widely used? Here are some reasons:

Speed
Customizable
Security
Awesome Bar
Compatibility
Add-Ons
Savable Tabs
Small Memory Footprint

Speed- Firefox is arguably the third-fastest browser in existence, slightly slower than Google Chrome and Opera. It is very fast when it has warmed up and can load and render pages in less than a second.

Customizable- Mozilla Firefox also has personas, which are similar to themes in Google Chrome. They let you change the look of your browser to fit your style.

Security- Firefox warns you about potentially unsafe websites before going to them, and also provides moderate protection against phishing and malware attacks to keep your computer and personal information safe.

Awesome Bar- That is Firefox's name for their smart address bar, not mine. The Awesome Bar is like a search engine combined with an address bar. It saves websites so that you can find them easier, and also finds sites that are related to any search term you enter. This helps if you don't remember the exact URL of a site.

Compatibility- Firefox is compatible with Windows, Macs, and Linux. That way, people can use it even when using a platform different from Windows. This has helped Firefox become so widely-used.

Add-Ons- Firefox offers many add-ons that help users save time and effort. Extensions include ad-blockers, email notifiers, unit converters, and much more.

Savable Tabs- It also gives people the option of saving their tabs when closed. This is handy if there are many tabs open and you don't need Firefox open at the moment. Just close the window, and it will ask you if you want it to remember your tabs. The next time you open Firefox, it will open your tabs from before.

Small Memory Footprint- Firefox uses very little memory when run, letting you open more programs without any problems. This can be very beneficial when you are very busy and need many programs open, such as Word, Firefox, Snipping Tool, Powerpoint, Documents, MSN, Windows Media Player, and McAfee running a virus scan (yes, I've had that many programs open before).

Those are some pluses to Mozilla Firefox. If you would like to try it, the current version is 3.6.11 and the download link is http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Professionally presented N. Sun, Mozilla is a Dinosaur!!! It is ever efficient for usage on day today computing... But one thing about it, developers prefer Internet Explorer on Prod tests and Dev servers... If Mozilla can match up with the perfect compatibility on windows servers, then that would take them to the first rank I guess...
