Podcasts are a recent phenomenon and often downloaded for entertainment. However, you can also download thousands of educational podcasts. Free learning!

I podcast every day for my commute to work.

Podcasts are free audio mp3’s offered by Itunes. I’ve been downloading them for a while and I’d like to share with you multifarious content you can acquire at the click of a button at no extra cost.

If you don’t have Itunes, download it from the apple website. http://www.apple.com/itunes

Once you have Itunes, you can go to the store and download mp3’s quickly and easily. If you click the Podcasts bar at the top of the page, you can peruse a multitude of free podcasts and a few paid ones.

There are many different topics to chose from. I frequently download the BBC podcasts for news, comment and comedy. Some of my favourites are The Friday Night Comedy Podcast and Fighting Talk.

As well as podcasts, there is Itunes U. This stands for Itunes University. This is an amazing repository of free learning. There are lecture series from world famous academics on a Myriad of subjects from some of the most prestigious Universities. Yale, Oxford, Cambridge, Stanford, Berkley, Open University, Warwick to name but a few.

The topics offered are stimulating and offer you a chance to gain an insight into new realms. My own curiosity led me to listen to casts on Rhetoric, Anglo Saxon, Game Theory, Greek history, Biology and Chinese. If you wish to become a polymath, this is the place to go.

By constantly learning, we make new connections between the neurons in our brains. We remain intellectually agile by always testing our mind. This on line resource is a marvellous source of improved knowledge and mental health.
