The story of Superman continues with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

Movie Review: Man of Steel

Embrace mega mayhem, as Zack Snyder sizzles with his suspenseful retelling of the origin of the comic book hero Superman, aka The Man of Steel.

During his adolescence, Superman learns that he has powers that aren’t quite normal. As a young man, he takes a journey to discover where he came from, and why he was sent on this amazing adventure. In order to complete his task, the hero in him must emerge so that he can save the world from devastation, and become hope’s symbol for the human race.

The movie begins with Superman(impressively portrayed by Henry Cavill) as a baby being sent to Earth by his dad, played by (Russell Crowe) from a doomed Krypton. While the planet is breaking apart, Krypton’s judicial system still has time to sentence the persistent General Zod and his cronies to eternity in the demonic "phantom zone".

With this in mind, the vengeful Zod and his counterparts arrive on Earth with a plan to colonize it. Once they've replaced the atmosphere, and gotten rid of the humans. This would be possible. Superman, who is dealing with issues of his own, wants so desperately to prevent this.

He's troubled about his moral responsibilities to his adoptive planet, which sees him as an enemy. He's also committed to honoring the down-to-earth values of his foster parents, (played by veteran actors Kevin Costner and Diane Lane) and working through his feelings for spunky reporter, Lois Lane (Amy Adams).

Giant machines, endless fireballs, somersaulting vehicles, monstrous mechanical devices, and not to mention, the action packed fight scene between Superman and Zod, all mesh to create the entertaining qualities of this respectful reboot.

In conclusion, director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer both hit enough of the story's crucial and emotional beats, giving Man of Steel, just enough dramatic heft to keep you amped for the next one. Are you ready?

Man of Steel is in theatres now.
