Box office king Hugh Jackman retuns as The Wolverine !!!

Movie Review: The Wolverine

Warning: this article contains spoilers

Logan returns!

A haunted and mildly tormented Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) travels out of his comfort zone into an unknown world. He then travels to Japan to bid an old friend farewell, and gets drawn into a host of unexpected, deadly, and life changing events. Vulnerable and pushed to his physical limits, he also confronts an emotionally crippling inner struggle against his own immortality.

This James Mangold directed 3-D adventure begins in 1945, with Logan, the Wolverine, as a prisoner in a Japanese POW camp near Nagasaki. When the Americans drop the atomic bomb, he rescues an officer named Yashida. Terrified, yet unwilling to sacrifice his own life, Yashida, a young soldier, takes cover in a fortified prison pit containing the immortal mutant Wolverine, who shields him from a deadly explosion.

In the present day, Logan lives as a hermit in the Canadian wilderness, tormented by hallucinations of his previous love Jean Grey (Famke Janssen).

After a physical confrontation with a hunter, he is located by a woman named Yukio (Rila Fukushima) Yukio represents Yashida, (Hal Yamanouchi), now the CEO of a technology corporation, who is dying. Yashida wants Logan to accompany Yukio to Tokyo, Japan so that Yashida may say farewell.

While in Tokyo, Logan meets Yashida's son Shingen (Hiroyuki Sanada) and daughter, Mariko (Tao Okamato), while on his death bed, Yashida offers Logan a proposal which he refuses.

Just hours before passing away, Yashida mentions to Logan that his granddaughter Mariko needs protection. He has personally chosen her to take over the family business much to the chagrin of her conniving father. When the yakuza attempt to abduct Mariko during Yeshiva’s funeral, Wolverine comes to her rescue.

Barely escaping with their lives, Logan and Mariko go into hiding, but the rigorous battle is far from over, and with Logan’s healing powers quickly diminishing, it seems that he may not be able to protect Mariko for much longer. What happens next? Well, I won’t give it all away.

Action packed fight scenes, high speed chases, and an unexpected post credits scene are just a few reasons why The Wolverine is worth checking out.

The Wolverine is in theaters now.
