A brilliant story by Steven King. Weird, interesting and a great story to read. Find out more here.....

'Rose Madder' by Steven King

I have never read any of Steven King's novels, so I decided to start reading them. I didn't want to start off with anything too scary, so I picked Rose Madder. It is a much more suttle story than other books by Steven King.

Rose Madder is about a lady called Rosie Daniels whose being abused by her Police man husband. She leaves him one day and ventures out into the world on her own after fourteen years of being in an abusive relationship. The story goes on as she makes her life her own again, but her husband is a brilliant tracker and he is determined to find her. He is a violent and sick man who will do anything to get his wife back. Even die for her!

The story gets interesting when Rose finds a painting that she likes, which has a name on the back of it saying Rose Madder. She becomes attached to it whilst in the shop and she cannot take her eyes off it, so she gets it. The painting becomes interesting to her and perculiar. Things start to happen with the painting, which scares Rose. Her problems get worse when she realises that her husband, Norman is tracking her and he is getting nearer every day.

I found this book to be very readable and I could not put it down for a second. Steven King is a brilliant author. If all his books are as good as this one, then I will read more of them.

He is a strange writer, but still curiously brilliant in his own way. I would recommend Rose Madder to anyone who is a fan of Steven King.

His books are all bestsellers. Had a collection of them. They were borrowed one by one by friends never to return. "The Skeleton Crew" was scarier. Thanks for this review, Denise.

I love me some Stephen King books, now his movies, nope. All those I have watched I hated, they have to leave too much out. Stephen King is a very detailed writer and that is why most of his books are so darn thick. I have to admit at times when I read his books, I try to skip over pages, only ending up having to go back and start all over again, as I missed the important 'little' details. But once you go back and start from the beginning, you are darn hooked. I think I left a message on one of your (?) pages about the book "The Talisman" and I got so hooked after I got to page 50 (by skipping pages) only having to go back to the start and re-read it again and not skip any pages, I was so hooked I had taken it to work that night and read it in between the customers I had to serve, I finished that huge book by the next morning. Nice review on 'Rose Madder' By Steven King, classic. Thank you for sharing.:)
