Walkers Roasted Chicken and Thyme flavoured crisps are special and tasty crisps. However due the salty finish I would like recommend it to crisp lovers for an occasional treatment.

Review of Walkers Roasted Chicken and Thyme Flavour Crisps: Tasty But Too Salty

The Walkers is a British snack food manufacturer, which is operating mainly in the UK and Ireland and best known for manufacturing crisps. The one I'm reviewing is one of the sensations: Walkers Roasted Chicken and Thyme flavour crisps.

Packaging:

The crisps come in a foil bag with a feature of roasted chicken and thyme as a background. The front of the bag resembles a Walkers name and product flavour. A small nutrition breakdown is on the right bottom and the weight of the crisps on the left bottom.

On the back of the bag, you will find more details about Walkers Roasted Chicken and Thyme and nutrition information.

The Crisps:

The crisps are in a light golden colour with various sizes. They are quite thin with green and red herb powders on.

Ingredients:

The crisps contains potatoes with 26% Sunflower Oil, Roasted Chicken and Thyme Seasoning, salt, firming agent; Roasted Chicken and Thyme Seasoning contains flavourings, milk lactose, dried milk whey, milk butter oils, dried chicken, dried lemon juice, parsley and thyme. The crisps contain no Artificial Colours and sweeteners, no MSG and no preservatives and are suitable for vegetarian.

Nutrition:

Each 30g serving contains 151 calories, 0.7g sugar, 7.9g fat, 0.7g saturates, 0.59g salt providing 630 kj energy, that is roughly 8% calories and 11% fat of a daily amount for adult.

Availability and Price:

The 150g pack can be found at most supermarkets and retailer shops. Usually it’s priced 1.99 per bag, but sometimes you can get it for £1 when it’s on offer.

My Opinion:

It’s not my first time to try Walkers Roasted Chicken and Thyme flavour crisps. In my memory Walkers sensations range crisps were always tasty and had some unusual taste, which other banded crisps don’t have. However the sensations range crisps is always a little expensive, compared to walkers other flavour crisps as well as other branded crisps. One day when I saw it’s on a half price promotion I decided to try them again.

After opening the bag I smelled the aromatic herbs immediately. The roasted chicken flavour with strong lemon hint really gave me a delightful savoury taste, which did remind me of real roast chicken meal. I must admit it’s a very tasty crisps and I’m kind of addictive to it. However after eating I found two downsides of the crisps. One is the coating on the crisps, which can be very sticky on to your fingers. The other one is the thirsty feeling. Out of curiosity I compared the salt quantity of Walkers roasted chicken and the Roast Chicken and Thyme flavour one. I found the ordinary roasted chicken one contains 1.24g salt per 100g; the Thyme flavour one contains 1.96 g salt per 100g. We do pay price for richer taste.

Final Word:

Walkers Roasted Chicken and Thyme flavoured crisps are special and tasty crisps. However due the salty finish I would like recommend it to crisp lovers for an occasional treatment.
