Review of several free Android apps. App reviews on the market or Google Play are sometimes skewed and bias. This is a `personal use' review by the author.

Free Android apps and Google play

The Android app market is endless in terms of choice, variety, and technology that help to make your life more convenient and enjoyable. There are millions of Android apps on Google Play, far too many to describe here; however, this article will focus on several apps that I have personally used, and like. For example, one of my favorite pastimes is listening to music. Finding a great music app can often be difficult in terms of choice because there are numerous apps available. One problem is that app developers often pay for reviews, so good reviews can be fallacious.

Android Bible apps

I have tried several Bibles apps on the Android market and have downloaded several for a day or so—trying each one out to find the best one. In the final analysis, the best free Android app in the category of Bible apps is “YouVersion.” This Bible app has many features that are user-friendly and convenient to help readers in their daily walk with Christ. It has a great assortment of Bible studies, daily meditations, prayers, and daily devotionals or study guides. This Bible app allows you to set the translation you favor. It has a section for keeping notes, bookmarks, sharing on social sites, live chat, and website support. If you`re looking for a free Android Bible app, then YouVersion is the one that I recommend as the best on the Android app market and Google Play.

Android apps: eReaders

The eBook market is in full bloom and continues to grow. I was in a Best Buy store the other day looking for a new laptop and the entire department was remodeled to accommodate the selection of “eReaders.” Folks, this is the way of the future. I know, I will always want to hold a traditional printed book in my hands on occasion as well, but eBooks are a wonderful new technology. One of the eReader apps that I found free—that has amazing features and a great selection of free eBooks—is “Aldiko.” This free Android app on Google Play has some features that even “Amazon Kindle” doesn`t have. This app has great graphics, a bookshelf style library for your personal downloads, and it has a store for purchasing books as well. Aldiko has all the great bookmarking features—day and night reading—and it will save to your SD card. One final note: If the reader holds his/her finger on any word the app will give a definition, from either the dictionary or a Google search,—Amazon Kindle does not have this feature without a large download of an additional application.

Android apps: Music Paradise MP3 player

This is a real personal area for most consumers—music! I know everyone thinks their personal music app is the best and I am no different except I`ve tried several and this one truly has the best features. My personal favorite Android music app is “Music Paradise.” It`s a free Android app on Google Play and it allows free MP3 downloads, with minimal ads. I like this app because it has great graphics, which technically does not matter, but makes for a more pleasant experience. In addition, I have yet to put a song, or band, in the search engine and not find it; my searches included songs from the sixties, seventies, and of course (my generation) the eighties. You can set your favorite songs as a ringtone, share them on social sites, archive them on the app, and they save (automatically) on your Android phone`s music player. This really is an awesome app for finding free MP3`s. Who needs Apple and iTunes?
