We are making our own miracles as long as we believe.

Himala (Miracles in English)

Some people believe in miracles and some don’t. There are certain circumstances that we don’t really know if it really exists or not since there are no scientific explanation for its occurrences. Miracle is just a perceptible interruption of the laws of nature that’s why others called it supernatural. However I also believe that miracle is something that God did by working with the laws of nature to perform it but it could only happen if those who receive it deserve it.
The setting of the movie “Himala” is a small town named Cupang which is known to be cursed. The life of a lady named Elsa change when she saw a Virgin Mary in the day of the eclipse at the hill where her adoptive mother founded her. From then on she started faith healing and had gathered quit a follower from almost all over the world. Then suddenly a very tragic day happen when Elsa and one of her follower got raped in the hill while being filmed by a filmmaker who is struggling on his career and had also felt guilty for not helping the two. After the incident another incidents follows, the spreading of the cholera and death of many townsfolk, Elsa then decided to stop healing and the town was back from what it is before. But when Elsa got pregnant the others took it differently by spreading rumors about it being like the Virgin Mary. At the ending of the movie after Elsa was put to death by a bullet, she delivered the most iconic line which struck me, “Walang himala! Ang himala ay nasa puso ng tao, nasa puso nating lahat! Tayo ang gumagawa ng mga himala! Tayo ang gumagawa ng mga sumpa at ng mga Diyos…” ("There is no miracle! Miracles are in people's hearts, in all our hearts! We are the ones who make miracles! We are the ones who make curses, and gods...")
Then line that she stated left me to ponder and realize that it does make sense. When a person believes on something there is a big possibility that it will really happen even if we regard it as miracle we sometimes failed to notice that we too exert effort to make it happen since we believe that it will occur. This makes me realize that we indeed are making our own miracles in our lives. However my strong belief in God somehow contradicted to her message since we do not make God (not Gods) but it is God who makes us. He is the one who also makes our miracles within us come true.
