This is where I leave you is a very moving family drama about the healing of dysfunctional relationships.

Review and clip

All you have to do is see the trailers (one of which I will attach below) to know that this movie is about a father that dies and leaves behind the request that, although he was an atheist, the family should sit shiva for 7 nights. It stars the remarkable and still youthful Jane Fonda and Justin Bateman, who I consider one of his generations best actors. Doesn't hurt that he is handsome as well.

I was almost immediately reminded of a truism that I have believed for years. All it takes is a parent that has no filters, who just lets it all hang, to product children who are repressed and have too many filters. That truism is certainly borne out in this movie.
There are three sons and a daughter, each with their own neurosis and love and family issues that at times seem insurmountable. As the watcher, I found myself anger, happy, disgusted and moved to tears in the period of the almost two hours that the movie lasts.

I won't tell you anything else except there are all sorts of twists and turns, and things may or may not turn out well, or right, but they do turn out.

I would give this movie a 4 on the 5 scale vickiemeter.
