Some people have particular genres of music that they like, and nothing else. I have always liked a variety, and often find songs that are one off.

The history

I remember growing up and for some after hearing people talking about "that new generation and the noise they listen to." The funny thing was that oftentimes I actually sort of liked the "noise".

I don't remember what year it was, but it was during this period when I seemed to hear nothing but complaints about the state of modern music, that Cyndi Lauper came out with this song. Now, she had other songs before and after that had less meaning for me. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is a fun flippant song but, in my opinion at the time, not that meaningful.

This song, however, spoke to me on a level that many old songs didn't. I loved the words, and the way she sang them. When I saw music videos, I love the costumes and the visuals. I simply loved the song.

Sharing the song and a bit more about my reaction

You see, Cyndi has put her money where her mouth is over the years. So I continue to consider this song a very spiritual, moving song. Maybe even more so than many songs written to sing in church.

Her activism for Gay and Lesbian Rights and against bullying tells me all I need to know about this wonderful lady, and makes her song even more meaningful to me.

So, sit back, and listen to the song with me, and enjoy the deep meaning of love that I find there. This version is a simplier version that some of her versions which included more pageantry, but I think in its simple way, it shares more deeply, the heart of the message.

She is great isn't she? Neat lady. She had a show on cable for awhile. One of those reality things. I like her music too.

I saw a couple of episodes of the show, but it was one of those "reality shows" type and I am really more interested in her music. :)
