Two week With the Queen.

Colin is a bitter, selfish 12 year old boy with a very sick little brother, his name is Luke. As Colin Travels to England because of Luke's illness, Colin starts to go to the end of the world to help save his little brother, Colin will search for the best doctor in London.

This book sets out in Sydney,Australia. It is a nice sunny place with lots of things to do and have a blast!, Then the book turns over to England, where the book describes it as a cold bitter place to be.

Colin is an average boy but he thinks very highly of himself, but he is soon to change his attitude when Luke is Diagnosed with cancer. Luke, Colin's 8 year old brother is a kind and quite funny boy. Luke has been having a blast at Christmas with his new toy Plane untill he randomly faints, then to find out later he has un-cureable cancer.

I really liked this book beacause it shows you that you can't read life, and the journey ahead can be painful and that you could go to the ends of the earth to try save one that is close to you, one that you love.

I would recommend this book to a mature audience. There is some very emotional moments in life, an this book will show you them all.

The play “2 weeks with the Queen” was written by Mary Morris adapted from Morris Gleitzman’s best selling novel. It was first published in 1993 by Currency Express.
Colin Mudford was a 12 year old boy from a country town in Australia. When his bother Luke gets cancer, his parents send him to his family in London that he had never met before. They send him to England to “shield him from nasty realities of the situation”. (http://reviews.media-culture.org.au/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=363) Colin tries to seek help from he Queen with help from his younger cousin Alistair. The emotional journey that cousin goes through is written in a light-hearted and funny way. When Colin makes friends with a man whose partner is dying of AIDS, he starts to realise that Luke needs serious help. He desperately trys to find the best doctor in the world to cure Luke but doesn’t have much luck.
The main characters are Colin Mudford, Luke, Colin and Luke’s parents, Auntie Iris, Uncle Bob, Alistair, Griff and Ted. All these characters are important to the story as they all have different personalities which make the whole play all make sense.
I think the book is an easy read although I believe that the reader needs to be quite mature to understand the subject matter; illness.
