A site dedicated to giving abuse victims a safe place to share their story so others will know they are not alone.

What is it

Violence Unsilenced is a unique website. Created in February 2009, Violence Unsilenced gives victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and sexual assault a place to safely voice their stories. You can submit your story anonymously if you need to as well. Each week two new stories are uploaded. By providing this safe and anonymous atmosphere, it helps abuse survivors to realize they are not alone.

How Can You Help

The best way to help victims of abuse is by listening. One way you can do that, especially if you're a blogger is to Take the Pledge.

By adding your name to the blogroll, you pledge to support, listen and acknowledge what these brave survivors have lived through. By adding one of the badges onto your blog or website, you will be helping to spread the word about this amazing site and how they are working hard to break the silence that surrounds abuse and the stigma that is attached to it.

Speak Out

It is important that we lend our voices to this great cause that they have undertaken. It is not a battle that can be fought alone. While Violence Unsilenced has done an amazing job of providing a safe place for victims to share their story, it is up to us to help them spread the word.

Violence Unsilenced is one of the few sites that I have come upon that is truly non judgemental. They don't allow anyone to attack or blame the storytellers. It is uniqe in that it isn't a support group. It is just a safe place where victims can speak out without fear.

To submit your story to Violence UnSilenced, simply email an original, never-before-published 500-700 word blog-style post (this word count is not a hard and fast rule, it’s simply a suggested guideline.) Include your name as you would like it to appear publicly, as well as your blog URL if you have one. For more info on how to submit your story please visit the Violence UnSilenced submission page.

Please visit Violence Unsilenced today and give a word of encouragement to the brave souls who have shared their experiences. Let them know that they have been heard and are not alone.

I have a ton of personal experiences I would like to post, but I don't think this is the proper venue. I would like to submit what isn't appropriate for this site. I don't see a way to post.
