Still one lacuna which Microsoft trying hard to get it into is the application front which is still in its infancy as Microsoft enters late in to this market , it has to face stiff competition from Chrome web store and Apple store.

Microsoft has been in the mobile operating system segment for almost ten years now but what is sad to know is that till to date it has not been able to become the market leader due to some not very good policy implementation. It has been going the same way as that of Internet explorer 6 , after the heat on from first the Firefox and then Opera and now from Chrome from Google it is now taking it seriously. Earlier the interface is something like the miniature of Windows desktop operating system. The evolution is slow and it seems Microsoft not serious about it. After the update of WM6 and partnership with Nokia is developing and serious about Windows mobile platform. Microsoft is serious now about the touch screen functionality and now instead of serious about its look it is more and more going towards the touchscreen and user’s productivity factors. With the introduction of text based UI and completely overall of interface with lots of updates in recent times with then help of these Microsoft launches a completely overall mobile OS in the last year. Windows Phone 7 launched last year. The interface is called the metro design language and Microsoft also trying to incorporate this into Windows 8. It is the revamped mobile OS. Earlier the prime release of WM7 is like the vista but very heavy on usages. Then after several updates it now becomes one of the smartest OS in the market. Two major upgrade of NODO and Mango, that enhances the sped and stability of this WM 7. Now it seems it can make a good competition for Google Android. Now the latest version is WM 7.5 with lots of more user friendliness and very competitive to use and feel. More will be the future integrations of Windows 8 with WM& and more as its time Microsoft seems to be going back and first making he mobile OS and then the desktop OS as it seems it is in the right path. Still one lacuna which Microsoft trying hard to get it into is the application front which is still in its infancy as Microsoft enters late in to this market , it has to face stiff competition from Chrome web store and Apple store.

The mobile marketplace is one area where Microsoft has read it all wrong. Ironically this started earlier than the Pocket PC operating system. I had an Ipaq device and the biggest challenge the device was an operating system that was a constant battle. That operating system is still at the heart of the Windows phone applications though. Original versions of the Pocket PC OS should have been viable for the mobile phone, but that part of the market was never explored until after the advent of the iPhone.
